jQuery Date Input

I have finally managed to polish off, document, test and release a jQuery Date Input plugin I initially wrote whilst at Torchbox last summer. It’s been a long time coming so I’m glad to have got it out the way now! Comments and feedback are much appreciated.

  1. FYI It works beautifully with Safari 3.0.4 on the Mac too.

  2. Hey there,

just wanted to use the plugin for a project, but encountered an error. Every time I click on a date_input-enabled input I get this error:

    “this.input.outerHeight is not a function”

I do not know how to solve it, some ideas?

    Thanks Alex

  4. Thanks! This is a great plugin, I was having some issues with the ui.datepicker and this has worked out to be a more simple solution.

  5. Hi I have the same issue as Nogga? what could this be due to? It doesnt happen on all computers though.

error is: “this.input.outerHeight is not a function” when you click on the field.

    Thanks, John

  6. Thanks! this plugin is awesome! Fast and looks slick by default. Anyway to pick the time as well as the date in the near future? Is the value a mysql date value?

  7. Jonathan! What a surprise finding your site at the top of google while trying to find a date chooser! Works a treat too. How have you been? It’s been ages since we last spoke! I’ll send you an email later today :). Sam

  8. Just to let you know that I upgraded to jQuery 1.3.2 and your newest version works perfect in IE 6, 7, 8 as well as FireFox 2, 3 and Opera 9.

By the way love the script – small, fast, and beautifully designed.

    Tim

  9. Jon, Can I make the Date input plugin’s pop up when I click on the button by input field?

    Thanks.

  10. Hey Jon,

Long time no see huh? How’ve you been?

Your plugin looks slick! I ♥ the HTML it generates, especially when compared to the standard jQuery UI datepicker.

One suggestion though. Maybe it would be a good idea to disallow text selection inside the next and previous buttons. Feel free to use my übersmall noSelect plugin for this.

  11. Hey Mathias,

    I’m doing alright thanks.

Cheers for the suggestion, though I am not really maintaining date input at the moment. But if I ever do some more work on it I’ll consider this.

    Jon
